At the top end of the boat club the senior squad is made up of the upper and lower sixth form rowers as well as some dedicated Yr. 11's. Coached mainly by Ali and Doug, they have achieved some pretty outstanding results so far this year.
Profiles Yr13
Ally Monk
Date of Birth: 15th July 1991
Rowing position: 1st VIII Cox
Rowing History:
Since moving to BMSBC in September 2007 from BSBC (a wise choice), his best achievement would have to be coming 11th in the Schools’ Head 08, however he is currently also making good progress in GB trials. His winning records include medals at National Schools, Hampton Head and Bedford Regatta.
Personal Info:
Ally joined BMS in September 2007 in year 12, he studies French, Spanish, Biology and Geography at AS Level and is a bit of a languages geek, also learning Chinese and has a view to studying Modern Languages at university, although he has no idea what he want to do from then on. Ally enjoys drama, drawing and music (even though his taste in music may be shockingly bad). He is renown within the Boat Club for his amazing jokes! Ally is currently temp. monitor for Year 8, which he enjoys greatly.

Personal info:
Luke is currently studying Religious Studies, Philosophy, Economics and History with an interest in reading Theology at University. He is known to be precise with his work, with a distinct sense of humour and a relentless attitude to work hard. Although he doesn’t want to admit liking rowing too much, in his heart, he does have a sense of pride to be in the squad and his enthusiasm shines during tough outings. More recently, Luke has been promoted to Captain of Rose.
Tom Rivett
Rowing Position: 6 man 1st VIII Stroke side
Rowing Profile
My rowing career kicked off, incredibly uneventfully, with follets "fun" yr 8 rowing taster sessions, however, despite his best attempts, a group of 20 or so returned as J14's. Coached by an enthusiastic Mark Wood we eventually separated into a top quad, which, apart from me, the only member still rowing is Jamie. This quad proved successful and won gold medals at Peterborough J14's. I (unofficially) hold the BMS record for a J14 2K erg at 6:58 and won the Harpur Trust biathlon. The J15 year was a different story, Michael Cannon managed to reduce the size of the squad from 20 odd to just 8 or so in about a month or so and after a dead last place at schools head (except the crew that broke two blades), I decided enough was enough and left. I rejoined the squad (which now only had three people from the original squad) at the start of the sixth form and now sit at 6 in the first eight, coached relentlessly by Ali Brown and Doug.

Johnny Luk
Date of Birth: 19/09/90
Rowing Position: 4 man 1st VIII / Stroke man 1st IV
Rowing History:
J15 national semi finalist, 27th J16 in BIRC, rowed in 2nd VIII in 2007, won Reading novice eights, winner of senior 4 eights in Boston 2007, won Bedford Head 3 times, 37th in British Trials, Schools head of River 12th overall, Captain of Boats in 2007/8.
Personal Info:
Enjoys reading and is currently writing a novel. Enjoys marshal arts, tennis, athletics and rowing and would like to study biology in University. Johnny is currently taking all three sciences and geography in AS. He enjoys debating and giving rowing reports. Likes exploring wilderness (must be all the Ray Mears on TV) and is currently participating in Duke of Edinburgh Gold. Also plays the saxophone (poorly), and has recently done his Grade 4 exam (even more poorly), and he represents the school in Concert Band. He enjoys the environment and is currently part of the Environmental Group. Johnny also represents in the 6th form council. More recently, he has been given the role as Captain of Mobbs (house), and will be rivals against fellow Head of House Luke Wilson. Rowing has given him the real meaning of 'hard work’; he loves this crew to bits, and believes that being captain was one of the biggest honours of his life so far.
